Mingo CEO on Behind Company Lines

Recently I was on the Behind Company Lines podcast with Julian Torres. We talked about a wide range of topics including startups, manufacturing and my entrepreneurial journey. Have a listen!

Summary

Bryan Sapot, the CEO of Mingo Smart Factory, shares the company’s journey in providing software solutions for mid-market manufacturing companies. Mingo’s software allows manufacturers to analyze data and improve their operations by optimizing machine performance, reducing downtime, and increasing overall efficiency.

To achieve a seamless integration of the software with various machines from different eras and industries, Mingo developed gateways and leveraged off-the-shelf technology in combination with their own “special sauce.” They focused on simplifying the process by collecting the minimum amount of data needed from machines, making it easier for operators to use.

In identifying stakeholders, Bryan explains that COOs, VPs of Manufacturing, and Plant Managers are the key contacts rather than CEOs. The company has honed in on specific industries, such as food, auto parts, and plastics, where their solution fits best.

Regarding workforce changes and onshoring, Bryan shares that increasing wages has led to better productivity and lower turnover, while automation of repetitive tasks is becoming more popular. Onshoring has grown due to supply chain issues caused by COVID, with manufacturing activity increasing in Mexico and the US.

Mingo’s inspiration comes from Bryan’s background in building software for manufacturing companies and a desire to create more complex solutions for the industry, specifically mid-market manufacturing companies.
